How To Prepare for Movement Lessons

1. Schedule Your Lesson time
Â
- Do lessons at least 2 times per week for the best results.
- Each lesson is 20 minutes more or less—schedule 25 minutes to allow time to settle in.
- Rest when you need to—there is no rush.Â
- If you miss a week, don’t worry. Simply pick up where you left off.
Commit to your practice, and watch the changes unfold.
2. Best Times to Practice
- Morning: Your mind is rested and ready for learning.
- Evening: Your brain will process the new connections while you sleep.
- Whenever you can make time is a great time too!
Try to pick a consistent time to make it part of your routine.

3. Setting Up Your Space
- Choose a quiet area where you won’t be interrupted.
- Use a carpeted floor, thick mat, or blanket for comfort.
- Make sure you have enough space to stretch your arms and legs.
- Remove any furniture or objects that may get in your way.Â
Make your environment work for you—so you can focus, explore, and move with ease.

4. Listening vs. Watching
- Listen to the audio guidance while moving.
- There's no need to watch the video while doing the lesson. It’s there only as a reference.
- If you're unsure about a movement, you can pause and check the video to see the position.
Learning through feeling (not watching) is the key to success!

5. What to Wear & Props
- Clothing: Loose, comfortable clothes that allow free movement.
- Avoid tight clothing that restricts breathing, like yoga bras and leggings.
- Remove jewelry and shoes.
- Props: Use a mat or blanket under your body and a folded towel for head, neck or knee support.

6. Safety & Comfort
- Your movement should always be comfortable and pain-free.
- If you feel discomfort, make the movement smaller, slower or simply imagine the movement.
- Use your supportive props to make uncomfortable positions comfortable to you.
- If you have a medical condition, consult your doctor before starting.
You are in charge of YOU—listen, adjust, and move in a way that feels right for you. Learning starts from where you are.

7. Creating Lasting Change
- These lessons retrain your brain and nervous system.
- Doing just two lessons per week will create meaningful improvements. Feel free to do more.
- Rest days are important—your brain continues to process changes even when you’re not practicing.
Revisit lessons—each time you repeat a lesson, you will refine and deepen your learning experience.

"I'm working the lessons almost daily. Noticing changes on every level, especially in getting things I've put off taken care of. I'm looking forward to exploring, learning and shifting in more ways."
Â
Margaret P.
"Since beginning UNA I've made it a habit to do 2 lessons a week. It began as a response to pain in my legs but soon broadened into a process of learning about myself. I look forward to each week and find the results remarkable."
